His most famous book "The Cat in the Hat" was published in 1957 after being rejected over and over again. The Cat in the Hat is one of the bestselling children's book ever.

November 3, 1957: Laika, The first dog launched into orbit. The flight of Laika was meant to test the safety of space travel for humans, but since technology wasn't very advanced it was definitely a suicide mission for a dog. According

1958: Bobby Fischer became the youngest grandmaster of chess in history. He started to learn chess at the age of 6 and at the age of 16 he fully devoted himself to playing chess. In the World Championship he won 20 consecutive games. On September 1, 1972 he became the first Native American to hold the title of World champion.

1958: The Hope Diamond is donated to the Smithsonian. The hope diamond also known as the Tavernier Blue is a large, 45.52 carat deep blue diamond. It has been described as "The most famous diamond in the world" It is also known to be cursed. The hope diamond was formed 1.1 billion years ago. Smithsonian mineralogist George Switzer convinced Harry Winston to donate the Hope Diamond to the Hope Diamond Institution.

November 16, 1959: The Sound of Music premiers on Broadway. The Sound of Music drew in lots of money and had advanced in sales. Many reviews such as The New York Times said that "the show lacked final exultation that marks the difference between a masterpiece and a well produced musical entertainment." The Sound of Music was a Broadway Musical that worked out well but had some negative reviews from certain critics and reviewers.
